Best spot to Propose with a view of Downtown Asheville #1 Grove Park Inn

Asheville Engagement and Proposal Photographer

Arland proposed to Cece in an intimate scene in their room at The Omni Grove Park Inn. They then wanted to have their engagement photographed at sunset to remember the occasion. With a view of Downtown Asheville from the west facing veranda, this is definitely my #1 favorite spot for proposal photos in Asheville.

3 rules to getting great Engagement photos at The Omni Grove Park Inn
  1. Can you take proposal and engagement photos at the Grove Park Inn without renting a room?
  2. Where should we start for the best place to propose at the Grove Park Inn?
  3. We are nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera, will we get photos like the ones of Cece and Arland?
1. Can you take proposal and engagement photos at the Grove Park Inn without renting a room?

Yes! Make a game plan with your photographer. I have photographed weddings and engagements all over The Grove Park Inn. There is so much here! Natural beauty, grand entryways, giant fireplaces, and some fantastic bars and restaurants you can visit before or after your shoot! There are many reasons to visit, and to have your photoshoot at, this historic Asheville Hotel.

2.Where should we start for the best place to propose at the Grove Park Inn?

From the Lobby of the hotel you just walk straight out on the terrace for incredible views of Downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Take a Look at the gallery of photos below and decide which location you would like for your big moment!

The terraces are always a favorite, but there are plenty of spots just a few paces away that will also be fantastic as you will see. For private private locations to propose at the Grove Park Inn you can consider popping the question at the waterfalls down at the bottom of the steps at the entrance to the spa. This location is usually shaded most of the late afternoon and evening and creates a nice intimate setting for your proposal. With the gentle splash of the water and the iconic rock walls of the Gove Park Inn as your backdrop, this is definitely one of my favorites. Then it is just a few short staircases away from the terraces for sunset!

3. We are nervous and uncomfortable in front of the camera, will we get photos like the ones of Cece and Arland?

Yes! I promise you, everyone at some point says to me, “I am bad in front of the camera,” “I am not photogenic,” “Wait what do I do with my hands?!?” Yes, my job is finding light, knowing the spots, and getting the camera to capture the beauty, but the main skill I have honed over the years, and the lion’s share of what I bring to the table is the subtle direction I am able to provide for couples and the space for them to be themselves. Engage with your partner and hire a photographer you trust to do the rest!

The Engagement Ring

Ever wonder how to get a good close up picture of your engagement ring? Macro Lenses! Arland made this Engagement ring box by hand out of the same wood and tree he and Cece used to build their home. So it was extra important to capture these small details.
